It's Wildcat Wednesday! Every Wednesday, we will spotlight a member of the LR Wildcat family.
This week we are introducing you to Taylor Blankenship!
5th Grade Teacher
Tell us about your family (human and/or fur family):
My husband, Ricky, and I have been married for 5 years. We have a beautiful, sassy, independent 2 year old girl, Lainey.
How long have you been a teacher/worked in education?
This is my fourth year teaching.
How long have you worked for LR?
This is my second year at LR.
Why did you choose to work for LR?
I chose to work for LR because the sense of community and the pride in their education. My husband and I decided to make LR our home, 5 years ago, and after living here for 3 years, I knew I wanted to be a part of the amazing school district.
What is your favorite thing about working for LR?
My favorite thing about working for LR is the teamwork! I have a wonderful 5th grade team and we work together to ensure our students have a successful year. Being a part of a team is rewarding and fun!
How did you know you wanted to be a teacher?
I always knew I wanted to help people. When I went to college, I thought I wanted to be a social worker. After two years, I realized that wasn't the path I was put on Earth for. After some research, I thought I would give teaching a shot. At the end of my first practicum, I knew this was my career path and I set off to be a teacher.
What stereotype about teachers is true?
We truly spend so much time thinking and worrying about our students. I distinctly remember one specific student from my first year of teaching that I still think of often and pray for.
What is your favorite quote?
"Be somebody who makes everybody feel like a somebody." -Kid President
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
Fly an airplane!

Travel and spend time with family.
Thanks Taylor! We’re so glad you’re a Wildcat!
