Second Grade Teacher

Tell us about your family:
I recently married my terrific husband Darren. Together we have seven amazing kids, two fabulous daughter-in-laws, and three adorable grandchildren! Darren and I enjoy every minute of our time with Mazie (3 years old), McKinley (6 months), and Elizabeth (9 months). We think they are pretty special!

How long have you been a teacher/worked in education?
I have worked at LR for 15 years. I am proud to be part of this amazing district!

What makes you passionate about education?
Since I was little, being a teacher has always been my dream. I love what I do! I love the relationships that I build with my students. I love their little hugs and smiles. I love to be part of shaping their lives. I love it when they accomplish something that they did not think they could do. In my opinion, there is no better job in the world!

What is your must-have classroom item?
Felt tip pens in every color they come in!!

If you had to choose a different grade/subject to teach, what would it be?
My second choice job at LR would be the school nurse. I love taking care of people! As far as a subject, that would have to be P.E. I'm pretty sure Coach Collins has the best job ever!

What is something about you that might surprise people?
I am Swedish. All of my family on my mom's side lives in Sweden.

What is one item on your bucket list?
A trip to see my family in Sweden!
