Job Title:
Director of Health Services/Middle School Nurse
Tell us about your family:
I have been married to my husband Steve for 26 years. We have two beautiful children, Allyson, who is 25 and Jordan who will turn 23 next month. Both of them will graduate college this year. Jordan and his girlfriend, Molly, both attend Missouri Southern State University. Ally will graduate from Cox College with her nursing degree in May 2022. Ally is married to Jesse Underwood and they have two amazing children. Nora is 3 and Jack will turn 1 next month. They have their Nana wrapped around their little fingers. They are such a light. I have 6 granddogs and 1 grandcat.
How long have you worked for LR?
I started as a substitue nurse in 1999. Officially though this is my 21st year.
What is your favorite thing about working for LR?
I love this district. It is the best place to work. It has always felt like family to me. I have been the nurse at the middle school the majority of my time here at LR but have worked in every building at some point during my time here. I love my middle school family dearly, but every building is family to me.
What is something about you that might surprise people?
I used to play competitive softball. The women's team I was on won the national championship in 2006 and I was selected MVP of that national championship.
What is your favorite quote?
My favorite quote is a scripture. Isaiah 40:31. "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, the will walk and not be faint.
What's the weirdest job you've ever had?
I don't know if I have ever really had a wieird job, however, I will say the last two years of being a nurse during a pandemic have been the most challenging and defintely the weirdest.
What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?
I wanted to follow in my mom's footsteps and be a nurse . I think if I hadn't become a nurse I would have been a teacher.
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
Play the piano.
What do you like to do when you're not at school? The most important thing to me is family. So my favorite thing to do is just be with them. Hanging with Nora and Jack is the most fun!!!
Thanks for being a Wildcat, Tammy!
