Job Title:
Choir Director at the Middle School and High School
Tell us about your family (human and/or fur family):
I have recently been married and have three wonderful step-children, Madison, Reagan, and Jackson.
How long have you been a teacher/worked in education?
This is my 10th year of teaching.
How long have you worked for LR?
This is my first year of teaching at LR.
Why did you choose to work for LR?
I chose to work at LR because it is a terrific community with incredible parent support. The schools are extremely supportive of their staff and the kids are great! I was also excited about the opportunity to build a choir program and be at both the Middle School and the High School each day.
What is your favorite thing about working for LR?
I love how friendly the staff is and how invested the community is in their teachers and student body.
What is something about you that might surprise people?
I love 80's hair bands! They are the best!
What is your favorite quote?
"The idea is not to do the perfect performance, but to keep the melody alive, the song singing, and the energy refreshing to anyone within hearing. And when we have to stop--the song is there, ready to be picked up the next time. This kind of music-making is transformative." Alice Parker
What do you like to do when you're not at school?
My husband and I are currently renovating a home, so we spend most of our time off doing different types of construction projects. I also conduct the Girls Choir of Springfield for grades 5-8 each week.
Thanks for joining our team, Alicia!
