It's Wildcat Wednesday! Every Wednesday, we will spotlight a member of the LR Wildcat family.
This week we are introducing you to Jacqui Morgan!

Job Title:
First Grade Teacher
Tell us about your family:
I've been married to my hubby for 27 years. Our sons, Brenden and Ethan, are both adults. Ethan is in his third year in college to become a teacher, while Brenden and his wife are both educators! I am excited that I am going to be a grandma in April! I have two grand-dogs named Luke and Leia in addition to my spoiled, chocolate lab named Zeus.
How long have you been a teacher/worked in education?
This is my 27th year of teaching! It is my third year teaching first grade at LR. I've taught Kindergarten, first grade and third grade!
What makes you passionate about education?
I believe ALL students can learn! I love encouraging my students to “think outside the box” as they discover what they are good at. I also try to show my students that mistakes are part of the learning process and prove to them how important a growth mindset is. Ever since I was in kindergarten, I knew I wanted to be a teacher, and I hope that I inspire my students to work for and chase their dreams!
What is your must-have classroom item?
Smelly stickers & smelly markers!! Kids love getting "smelly" notes or stickers on their work.😊
If you had to choose a different grade/subject to teach, what would it be?
High school or college Math!! I love all Math including Algebra, Geometry, and Calculus. I've tutored a lot of high school and college math over the years!
What is something about you that might surprise people?
I want to write children's books when I retire! I have already written and illustrated one children's book, but it hasn't been published yet.
What is one item on your bucket list?
I would love to travel the U.S. to visit many of the National Parks!
Jacqui, we are thrilled to have you as a member of the Wildcat family!
