Primary School Music Teacher

Tell us about your family:
My husband, Chris Ballard, and I have been married 25 years. We have 3 children. Rylen & Sage are sophomores in college and Mattox is a junior at LRHS. Our family motto is "Ballards aren't quitters!" We are a passionate family, 100% committed to the things we do!

How long have you been a teacher/worked in education?
This is my 16th year teaching elementary music.

What makes you passionate about education?
Kids are quirky and funny and say the best and most entertaining things on a daily basis. It is a joy to be a part of their lives. My passion for education comes from the hope to be a positive influence in my student's lives. Everybody deserves to know they are valued and can have a great future.

What is your must-have classroom item?
A clock! I get into the music, and need a clock to keep from losing track of time!

If you had to choose a different grade/subject to teach, what would it be?
I really loved math growing up. I can see myself teaching pre-Algebra and Algebra at the Middle School level.

What is something about you that might surprise people?
I am super competitive. I love to win, and I love cheering on LR sports!

What is one item on your bucket list?
Running the Chicago Marathon
