Elementary School Counselor

Tell us about your family:
My husband, Brad, and I have four kids—Jadyn, Ben, Jessy, and Alex. We have one son-in-law, Jonny, two daughters-in-law, Kelsey and Allison, and one beautiful grandbaby, Addie Grace. We also have a granddog that lives with us—a sweet little Mountain Feist named Obi. 

How long have you been a teacher/worked in education?
I have been with LR for 19 years—11 years as a counselor, 1 year in preschool, and 7 years as a substitute. 

What makes you passionate about education?
I consider it a privilege to be an advocate for children who may not otherwise have a voice, and an honor to be a positive role model for young people who are growing up in a big and difficult world. I love building relationships with students and teaching them strategies for creating a healthy, successful, and joy-filled life!

What is your must-have classroom item?
Jokes/Trivia, Flexible Seating, Games & fidgets!

If you had to choose a different grade/subject to teach, what would it be?
P.E. all day long! Art would be fun, too! :)

What is something about you that might surprise people?
I love the water (lake, river, ocean, pool) and hope to retire someday at the lake, I'm afraid of dogs (except Obi!), I wanted to be a racecar driver when I was little, and I've had the same best friend for 46 years!

What is one item on your bucket list?
Write and publish a kid's book!
