At Logan-Rogersville R-VIII School District, the safety of our students and staff is a top priority. Our Strategic Plan includes a dedicated pillar focused on Safety and Communication, ensuring that consistent protocols and practices create a secure learning environment. We believe safety is a shared responsibility, and we thank our community for their partnership in keeping our schools safe.

See Something Say SomethingThe Logan-Rogersville School District has multiple methods for students, parents, and patrons to communicate alarming or threatening situations. The LR Tipline is available for students, staff, and parents to share information anonymously about drugs, weapons, or other factors which may be harmful to the school environment. Additionally, the Courage to Report system provides another anonymous option for reporting concerns that could impact the safety of our schools.

What Parents Need to Know

    • Ensure emergency contact information in the Parent Portal is accurate and current.
    • Become familiar with the district website and other communication channels (e.g. mass notification, SMS text, etc.)
    • Talk with your child about the importance of following school procedures in the event of an emergency.
    • Emphasize that cell phones should not be used during an emergency unless directed to do so by a teacher/adult.
    • Trust that the district is FIRST doing what is needed to protect students; communication will follow.
    • Remain calm; monitor information sources.
    • Natural instinct is to want to rush to your child’s school. Please refrain from doing this. Phone lines, staff and roads are needed for emergency response. Parents will not be allowed on campus.
    • Parents and guardians will be directed to their child’s specific location for parent reunification.
    • Parent Reunification Plan: Students will only be released to parents/guardians, or other pre-designated persons identified on emergency contacts. Reunification process is time consuming. Please be patient.
    • Listen to and acknowledge your child’s concerns. Provide reassurance to your child they are safe and additional prevention efforts are being put in place.
    • Seek help from school or mental health professionals if concerns persist.
