It's Wildcat Wednesday! Every Wednesday, we will spotlight a member of the LR Wildcat family.
This week we are introducing you to Aaron Roten
-----------------------------
Job Title:
High School Visual Arts Teacher
Tell us about your family:
I am married to Elisabeth Cheminel-Roten. Our daughter, Alessia is a sophomore at LRHS. We also have two cats named Eleanor and Willow.
How long have you been a teacher/worked in education?
This year is my 28th year as an educator.
What makes you passionate about education?
I am passionate about education, because I see it as an opportunity for all students to realize and develop their talents, skills, and interests, in order to discover how best to navigate their world going forward.
What is your must-have classroom item?
Sketchbook and Pencil. I usually take notes, draw and sketch ideas, and most importantly, sketch examples and work through ideas with students on a daily basis.
If you had to choose a different grade/subject to teach, what would it be?
I currently teach some evening courses at MSU, and I enjoy the challenge of teaching to a different audience. However, I think it might be exciting to teach a Kindergarten art class. Their enthusiasm is amazing. If I had to teach a different subject, I think I might like to give History a go.
What is something about you that might surprise people?
I am a guitar player who has released several collections of original music, as well as been a featured soloist on several international musical releases.
What is one item on your bucket list?
Travel with my family to Greece, Argentina, and Japan.
Aaron, thanks for being such an amazing part of the Wildcat family!
