Tell us about your family (human and/or fur family):
I have been happily married to Kevin McComas for 22 years. We have three children, Elliot (19), Eliza (16) and August (12). We have recently added an adorable puppy to our family, Charlie.
How long have you been a teacher/worked in education?
Combined, I have taught 11 years. One year in Pleasant Hill, outside of Kansas City, and 10 years in Springfield Public Schools. Many of those years I job shared or worked part-time. My last couple years in SPS I worked PAT as well as taught. I also spent 11 years staying at home with our children.
How long have you worked for LR?
This is my first year working in LR.
Why did you choose to work for LR?
My husband, Kevin, has worked in LR for 12 years and always spoken very highly of the district.
What is your favorite thing about working for LR?
The people are very friendly! That includes not only the staff but the families I work with as well.
How did you know you wanted to be a teacher?
I loved my high school FACS classes at Glendale and wanted to make a positive impact on student's lives.
What is something about you that might surprise people?
We have had 2 pet rats in the past and I loved snuggling them! It totally grosses most people out.
What is your favorite quote?
Diligence is the mother of good fortune.
What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?
Labor and Delivery nurse
What do you like to do when you're not at school?
I enjoy reading, spending time with family and friends, watching my kids in whatever activity they might be involved in, and eating out!
