Wildcat Wednesday Teri Evans

It's Wildcat Wednesday! Every Wednesday, we will spotlight a member of the LR Wildcat family.

This week we are introducing you to Teri Evans!

-----------------------------

Job Title:
Upper Elementary Physical Education Teacher

Tell us about your family:
My husband Duane and I have been married for 30 years. We have been blessed with 2 wonderful children. My son, Ethan (LR Class of 2014) who is married to my amazing daughter-in-law Morgan and my daughter, Elise (LR Class of 2020).

How long have you been a teacher/worked in education?
This is my 30th year of teaching. I have taught all 30 years at LR. I started teaching 3rd-5th grade Physical Education and am currently teaching 4th - 6th. Earlier in my career I coached Middle School track.

What makes you passionate about education?
I love sharing and giving my students opportunities to enjoy physical activity, sports, and learning about the benefits of an active healthy lifestyle. I love it when my students try new things or challenge themselves and accomplish things they didn’t think they could do. Kids make my heart happy and I love my job!

What is your must-have classroom item?
Music, gator balls, and my AWESOME students!

If you had to choose a different grade/subject to teach, what would it be?
I really can’t imagine teaching any other subject or grade level. Since I was 10 years old, I have always wanted to be a Physical Education teacher… thanks to my Elementary PE teacher, Coach Gallop. Best job ever!

What is something about you that might surprise people?
I played the oboe in the high school band.

What is one item on your bucket list?
I would like to visit Maine to see the fall foliage.
