This week we are introducing you to John Schaefer!

High School Physical Education Teacher / Boys Basketball and Golf Coach 

Tell us about your family:
I’m engaged to Ashley Kell, and she has a son, Tripp (11). I also have a daughter, Chloe (20), a son, Ari (10), and a Golden Doodle named Charlie.

How long have you been a teacher/worked in education?
25 years

What makes you passionate about education?
Seeing student's grow through their high school journey and achieving goals they did not think were possible. Watching them become successful adults is by far the most rewarding thing in education. 

What is your must-have classroom item?
A basketball! 🙂 Weights too. 

If you had to choose a different grade/subject to teach, what would it be?
I have a minor in English, however I would lean toward counseling. 

What is something about you that might surprise people?
I own an antique store that my family runs. 

What is one item on your bucket list?
To attend the Masters in Augusta!
