Kim Snyder - 2/12/25

Wildcat Wednesday Kim Snyder

It's Wildcat Wednesday! Every Wednesday, we will spotlight a member of the LR Wildcat family.

This week we are introducing you to Kim Snyder!

-----------------------------

Job Title:
Elementary Music Teacher

Tell us about your family:
My parents have been married for almost 60 years! I have an older sister, Karen, who was also a music teacher for many years. She, her husband, and their daughter live in Springfield. I also have a nineteen year old cat named Stanley.

How long have you been a teacher/worked in education?
This is my 30th year in education!! I taught in Springfield for 11 years and have been in Rogersville for the past 19. I have taught second grade, third grade, high school music appreciation and musical theatre, but am back to my first love of teaching elementary music!

What makes you passionate about education?
I love the relationships I have with students. When they come into my room, I want them to know they are special, loved, and can do whatever they set their hearts on. Seeing kids fall in love with music and sing with complete abandon is an amazing experience!

What is your must-have classroom item?
My microphone and post-it notes.

If you had to choose a different grade/subject to teach, what would it be?
Either third grade, theatre, or teaching college students how to teach music!

What is something about you that might surprise people?
I have been the music director for 35 shows at Springfield Little Theatre and have been in almost 20 shows.

What is one item on your bucket list?
To visit Alaska and go back to Italy.
