It's Wildcat Wednesday! Every Wednesday, we will spotlight a member of the LR Wildcat family.
This week we are introducing you to Wendy Guison!
-----------------------------
Job Title:
Kindergarten Teacher
Tell us about your family:
I am married to my sweetheart Robert and together we have 5 children who are all LR alumni. We have 5 grand children that we totally adore and love to spoil and then send back home with their parents. We have a Border Collie Corgi mix named Roxy, who loves to play fetch and bark at wild animals and Amazon drivers.
How long have you been a teacher/worked in education?
I have been an educator for 26 years. Twelve of those years have been in the Logan-Rogersville District as a Kindergarten teacher.
What makes you passionate about education?
My mom was a child who had severe challenges learning to read. Growing up I watched her continue to struggle as an adult. As a result, I decided to dedicate my time and energy to help those who felt lost like my mom. It brings me great joy and satisfaction when I hear a child say, “I can read!”
What is your must-have classroom item?
Post-it notes, Sharpies, and a mighty sense of humor.
If you had to choose a different grade/subject to teach, what would it be?
My heart is with littles, I could never leave Kindergarten!
What is something about you that might surprise people?
While in Hawaii, I went whale watching and came inches from one of earth’s largest and most majestic creatures, as it passed directly under our boat. The Humpback song is so beautiful, it was the thrill of a lifetime!
What is one item on your bucket list?
I have always loved visiting National Parks and monuments, such as Yellowstone, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, and the Smithsonian Museums. I have a few more on my bucket list, like the Grand Canyon, Redwood National Park, and Glacier Bay National Park.
Thanks for being a part of the Wildcat family Wendy!
