Tell us about your family:
My husband Neal and I have been married for 17 years. Our daughter, Emily (LR class of 2020), is currently attending OTC. We also have a cat named Eddie and 2 dogs, Rosie and Heidi.
How long have you been a teacher/worked in education?
I have been blessed to teach here in Rogersville for my entire 30 year career. (Sped and Reading Intervention)
What makes you passionate about education?
I love watching my students discover the joy of reading and seeing their confidence grow. I cannot imagine having any other career.
What is your must-have classroom item?
Students, books, and visits from the reading dogs!
If you had to choose a different grade/subject to teach, what would it be?
Special Education - I started my career as a special education teacher, and I still have a love for it!
What is something about you that might surprise people?
I currently serve on the Board of Directors for Pet Therapy of the Ozarks. I enjoy helping people train their dogs to become certified therapy pets who visit schools, hospitals, nursing homes, etc. My dog, Rosie, visits my classroom once a month to be read to by my students.
What is one item on your bucket list?
A trip to Egypt!
