Wildcat Wednesday Darby Dameron

It's Wildcat Wednesday! Every Wednesday, we will spotlight a member of the LR Wildcat family.

This week we are introducing you to Darby Dameron!

-----------------------------

Job Title:
Sixth Grade Social Studies teacher

Tell us about your family:
I have been a part of the Logan-Rogersville School District my entire life. My dad's first year at LR was the year I was born. I met Eric in college at SMSU and we have been happily married for 27 years. We have two kids, Michal and Aaron. Michal is finishing up her music ed degree at MSU. Aaron is finishing up his welding degree at OTC.

How long have you been a teacher/worked in education?
I have been teaching for 18 years, but I was a para for a year before teaching.

What makes you passionate about education?
I want to be a positive influence on my students. I enjoy being around my sixth graders and have learned a lot from them. I only hope they learn as much from me.

What is your must-have classroom item?
All of my students. I am pretty flexible in my teaching, but without the students there, it doesn't mean a whole lot.

If you had to choose a different grade/subject to teach, what would it be?
I can't think of anywhere better than where I am now. I love sixth grade!

What is something about you that might surprise people?
Some things which might surprise people about me is I enjoy heavy metal music. I also enjoy dressing up for Halloween and to attend Comic-Con and Renaissance festivals.

What is one item on your bucket list?
I want to go sky diving as well as visit Machu Picchu, Ireland, and Norway.
