2nd Grade Teacher

Tell us about your family:
I've been married to my husband Brandon for 14 years, we have two kiddos, Hadley who is 12 and in 6th grade at LRUE, and Jake who is 7 and in second grade at LRE! We raise beef cattle and have two horses and 4 dogs! As a family we enjoy spending time at our farm riding side by sides or at the lake camping during the warmer months. Hadley and Jake also keep us pretty busy with riding lessons, practices for various choirs, and seasonal sports!

How long have you been a teacher/worked in education?
This is my 16th year teaching and my 2nd year at LRE!

What makes you passionate about education?
In college I worked at a daycare and fell in love with watching the kids there learn and discover new things I had taught them or introduced them to and that's when I decided I wanted to go into the field of education. I'm still amazed when my students have those light bulb moments in class where things click for them or they get so excited when the learn something new and want to learn everything they can about it.

What is your must-have classroom item?
Sharpie pens and markers!

If you had to choose a different grade/subject to teach, what would it be?
I'd teach middle school or high school social studies!

What is something about you that might surprise people?
I enjoy watching documentaries and shows from the Dark Ages about England and Scandinavia!

What is one item on your bucket list?
I'd love to go to Banff, Canada and see a moose in real life and the glacier fed lakes!
