4th and 5th Special Education Teacher

Tell us about your family:
My husband, Butch, and I have been married for 35 years. My son, Brian. lives with his family at Hermitage, MO. My two daughers are LR graduates and are both teachers. McKenzie and her family live in Marshall, MO where she is an elementary special education teacher. Kirsten is a kindergarten teacher at Logan-Rogersville. We have two grandbabies, Hailee and Rodney who are both turning one. We have one furry pet, Rusty.

How long have you been a teacher/worked in education?
Paraprofessional and Teacher for 18 years.

What makes you passionate about education?
My most passionate thing about education is watching my students succeed. I enjoy encouraging and forming relationships with my students.

What is your must-have classroom item?
I am retiring after this school year, so my must-have classroom item would be to leave a legacy for the teacher who replaces me.

If you had to choose a different grade/subject to teach, what would it be?
I have never wanted to teacher anything different than special education.

What is something about you that might surprise people?
I am an ordained minister with the Church of the Nazarene and have been a children's pastor.

What is one item on your bucket list?
I have been blessed to complete most of the things on my bucket list. I have been a teacher which had been number one. I have visited many of our national parks, such as The Grand Canyon, Utah's Might Five, Badland, Petrified Forest, and Monument Valley.
