It's Wildcat Wednesday! Every Wednesday, we will spotlight a member of the LR Wildcat family.
This week we are introducing you to Stacey Dunavant!
Tell us about your family:
I have been married to my husband Scott for 26 years. He has worked for Wil Fischer Companies for 35 years. We have two daughters: Sydney is 22 (LR Class of 2019) and Shayley is 20 (LR Class of 2020). Both attended LR Schools K-12. Sydney graduated from Evangel University in December 2022 and Shayley will graduate from Missouri State University in May 2023. We also have a "spoiled" cavapoo named Spud!
How long have you been a teacher/worked in education?
This is my 28th year in education and all 28 years have been at LRHS!
What makes you passionate about education?
I am passionate about the subjects I teach and strive to prepare my students for college, career, and life. I want my students to be kind, caring, honest, and compassionate people who make a positive impact on the world no matter where they go or what they do!
What is your must-have classroom item?
My tumbler full of ice water (and of course, my amazing students)!
If you had to choose a different grade/subject to teach, what would it be?
I played college volleyball and most of my teammates were PE majors so that would have been the natural route. I also loved Science so I was one course away from my Science certification. I also thought about Elementary Education, but Business Education won! Needless to say I was going to be a teacher!
What is something about you that might surprise people?
I spent my summers running firework tents for 20 years!
What is one item on your bucket list?
The first thing on my bucket list is to attend the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles!
Thanks for being a part of the Wildcat family, Stacey!
