2023-24 School Year Annual Performance Report Announcement

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) released the latest scores for school districts across the state in what is called the Annual Performance Report (APR). This letter is to explain what these results are and what they mean for the Logan-Rogersville School District.

What is the APR?

Missouri’s DESE has an accountability model for school districts called the Missouri School Improvement Program (MSIP). To score districts on their performance and improvement, DESE uses an APR. The 2024 APR is based on the most recent MSIP standards which is now in its sixth version.

How is this score different from previous years?

There are a few notable differences between MSIP 6 model and the previous accountability models. A few of the differences are listed below:

  • This is the third year for scoring schools based on alignment with the standards in MSIP 6.
  • This model differentiates the overall performance of public schools and places districts along a continuum, or ranking.
  • The scoring of academic achievement is different with MSIP 6 noting a significant emphasis on Growth.

In 2018 nearly every district in Missouri earned 90% of the points possible. To differentiate among districts, the 2023 MSIP 6 scoring system is much more rigorous, making the earning of points harder. The target for districts is to earn at least 70% of the points possible. Our district earned a score of 90.5% (177.5 out of 196 possible points). This is a 7% increase over the 2023 APR!

Below, we’d like to share some celebrations and opportunities for improvement we’ve drawn out of our APR score.

Celebrations

  • Academic Achievement in English Language Arts and Math
  • Advanced Credit Options for Students
  • District Continuous Improvement Efforts

Opportunities for Improvement

  • Continued Growth in all Subject Areas
  • College and Career Readiness Assessments
  • Attendance

As a district, we plan to celebrate these wins with our team members, while we create action steps to improve our school district based on the results of this report. It is our mission to provide an excellent education that supports all students in achieving their fullest potential. We appreciate the support of our community as we strive to accomplish this goal.
