Each fall and spring, the district’s literacy team members conduct a “walk-through” of the buildings that house grades PK-8 looking for evidence of the impact that the focus on literacy is bringing to students.  This year teachers noticed obvious vertical alignment across classrooms around the topic of Word Study and Writing.  It was impressive to observe classrooms where small group instruction was already taking place and to see student writing posted in the hallways as a celebration of the writing process just 20 days into the school year.  The team also identified areas to set as goals for the 2019-2020 school year.  It was an amazing day!
