Staff Professional Development
Education is the result of a cooperative effort involving teachers, administrators, and board members with the support of the local community. The district's plan for professional development includes efforts to support beginning teachers through the Mentoring Program and opportunities for all practicing teachers through the use of early release and half-days devoted to the work of Professional Learning Communities. Staff are also encouraged to submit requests for funds to attend professional development opportunities within their specific content area/ discipline that are aligned to the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP) and Building Improvement Plans (BIP). The Professional Development Committee (PDC) is comprised of teacher representatives from each building in the district who provide the oversight for the district's professional development plan. The committee reports program goals and activities, as well as areas of strength/need, through the Professional Development Handbook.
