CDC Project

CDC Project

LR has been selected to partner with the CDC, Washington University and the Springfield Greene County Health Department on a school-based project to learn more about our strategies to keep students and staff safe from COVID-19 and to continue learning in-person.

The CDC initially worked with Springfield Public Schools and Rockwood Schools for seven (7) days in December. They have returned for six (6) weeks to expand the project to other Greene County schools (LR, Republic, and two (2) private schools). The same format will be used in St. Louis County to compare results.

LR Nurses will continue their normal protocol, but if a student or staff is COVID positive, or identified as a close contact at school, they will be asked if they would like to participate in the CDC project. Participation is voluntary. If you choose to participate, you may be contacted by the CDC for a follow-up survey and a free saliva test at either a drive-thru testing site at Wildcat Stadium, or in your own home.

LR's goal is to ensure our students and staff are in a safe environment. We are excited to partner with the CDC to learn more about our health and safety protocols, quarantines, and how our decision to hold in-person school can be supported by data.
