Update from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education – 8/29/2011: Individuals who hold a valid (unexpired) Missouri Teacher’s Certificate are no longer required to apply for a Missouri Substitute Certificate.

Attach a copy of your valid (unexpired) Missouri Teacher’s Certificate to your substitute application, along with evidence of a fingerprint background clearance dated less than a year from the date of application. Personally submit all items to the L-R Administration Office. |

1) Applicant submits application for a substitute certificate through Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s on-line Educator Licensure system. Read detailed information at http://dese.mo.gov/eq/cert/CertHelpGuide.html
2) To begin the application process, go to http://dese.mo.gov and click on “DESE Web Applications.”
3) Applicants must mail original transcripts to DESE (write “SUB CERT” and include your educator ID or SS#). Mail to

4) The applicant’s background clearance and substitute certificate will be “issued” on-line, not mailed.
NOTE: BEFORE submitting your Substitute Teacher Employment Application to the Logan-Rogersville Administration Office, verify that your Missouri Substitute Certificate has been issued on-line in the Educator Licensure system. Print a copy of your substitute certificate and evidence of your fingerprint background clearance dated less than a year from the date of application. Personally submit all items to the L-R Administration Office.
